Seniors have been busily applying to Virginia and out of state colleges and universities and have met with success.
To date 28 students or 37 percent of the graduating class of 1981 have been accepted by one or more colleges. Acceptances came from a wide range of colleges, including John Hopkins. Penn State, the University of North Carolina, and the Florida Institute of Technology.
In sports this week Allison Best. Crystal Porter. Raynetta Gheen. and Kim Williams broke the 440 relay record of RCHS with 54.1 seconds at the District meet on May I in Broadway. Tammy Atkins broke the district meet record of the discus with a new record of 110 feet 1 inch.
The school play this year is “Oklahoma” and is directed by none other than Mr. Don Bomberger. The set is being constructed by the building trades class.
The SC A hopes to develop a wall plaque honoring all recipients of the RCHS Sportsmanship Award. We would appreciate past recipients phoning or contacting the school and leaving their names and the year they were honored.
Benefit Dinner
There will be a chicken, chitterling and old ham dinner Saturday, May 16 beginning at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Catherine Carter in Washington. Prices are S4.00 in and $4.50 delivered. Proceeds benefit the Queen’s Rally at Promise Land Baptist Church near Washington.
