organization in tms area nas been called the Fauquier Chapter since it merged with the Rappahannock Chapter in 1959. it serves both counties. Last year it served some of the military families in Rappahannock County by assisting them with paper work necessary to obtain certain benefits, trained the county rescue squads in first aid. including cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, and conducted the blood collection drive.
Because of the increased population of the two counties, which now totals 41.000. the Red Cross is asking for $20,000 to continue its work.
Outreach
Coordinator
Carol Rowland. Amissville has been named as the outreach coordinator in Fauquierand Rappahannock. counties for Project EnergyCare, a national outreach, education, and support program to locate low-income elederly and disabled people and inform them of energy-related services in their area.
In response to the energy crisis. Project EnergyCare provides information of vital assistance to thousands of low-income households throughout the country. The project has funded 70 community agencies to conduct local education and outreach using volunteer EnergyCare Neighbors to help eligible households participate in the program.
Carol will meet with local service providers and civic leaders to establish a coalition of agencies working together on energy concerns. Then she will meet with intersted civic, church, and senior groups to recruit volunteers.
