Still included in the proposed budget. Luke pointed out. at Friday’s work session, is $22.<XX) for court house renovation and repairs as well as $5,000 for a' building inspector. Luke also noted that his salary has been raised to $3.(XX). including expenses, in the proposed budget with the vice-chairman's at $700 and the remaining board members at $5(X). Fie said he will staff an office in the court house complex two days per week to take care of administrative details that currently "fall through the cracks." Luke emphasized that the full board will continue to deal with all policy matters.
In addition to the $143.486—$1.10 on the tax rate—cut from the proposed 1681-82 budget, the county’s revenue picture is further improved by a $35.(XX) increase in sales tax reimbursement expected from the state, according to Luke.
With the changes made on Friday and Monday, the 1681-82 budget will go to public hearing on June I with the lax rate to be finalized sometime between the hearing and July I.
