The same budget crunch that lowered secondary road funds by 40 per cent for 1981-82 has interrupted the Virginia Department of Highways's plans to acquire right-of-way for the long delayed widening of Route 211 between Washington and Sperryville.
Granville Coppage, rightof-way engineer with the Culpeper office, acknowledged that right-of-way acquisition has stopped except where offers have been made or negotiations started. Negotiations already underway to purchase land will continue, he said, if the landowner wishes.
