Rappahannock County is a very special place to those of us who have staked a part of our life here.
Our countryside is rural and beautiful. Rivers and creeks run clean and free as they wind through meadows and woodlands. Our farmland is productive and visually pleasing, and where fields and woods are left in their natural state there is an abundance of wildlife, native plants, and wildflowers.
This area is often cited as one of America's most chosen places to live. That has happened not by chance, but rather by the hard work of fanners, homeowners and their elected officials committed to orderly growth, affordable taxes for the average family and maintaining that certain standard of visual order which has drawn our families to live here.
If we are successful in maintaining these standards of excellence then we can preserve our farm industry, have public cost efficient growth around our towns and maintain taxes at a rate which the average family can afford—things now destroyed in adjacent counties to the east toward Washington.
