Needed
Any business, craftsperson, farm or dub that wishes to enter a float in the July 4 parade should call Roger Roach or Brad Fisher.
Craftspeople selling their crafts at the Independence Day fair will be charged a fee, benefitting the Washington fire department. Craft demonstrations or exhibits will not be charged at the same rate as crafts sales. Both should check with Roach or Fisher for fees and registration.

to Avon Hall where Fisher says that “at least one, but maybe two” hot air balloons will be loading up behind the courthouse grounds.
There will be a bike contest for children, who are invited to enter thendecorated bikes for judging. A fife and drum-corps will entertain with appropriate marching music. The fife and drum corps and the bikes will be part of a parade (“an informal parade” according to Fisher) that will march around town, along with horses, goats, and floats prepared by any of the local businesses, community groups, farms, or craftspeople.
Towards evening, the firemen will put the finishing touches on their alwavs-popular dinner of roast pork loin, coleslaw, rolls, baked beans, corn and drinks, all served picnicstyle at the rear of the monument grounds. Then the crowd will move through the trees to Avon Hall, where balloons will soar, children will compete in tradititional childrens’ games and races, and a short patriotic program will be presented. The fife and drum corps will once again perform and at nightfall, the firework demonstration sponsored by the Carrigans of Avon Hall will finish a perfect small town Fourth-of-Julv.
