fathomable Lady Audely herself, “Lady Audely’s Secret" provided ample action, violence and passion to let us escape into the ninteenth century country side for a feu hours.
The play opened with the entire company extolling the virtues of the English century life, and then we were treated to Julie Burke as Phoebe offering us the axiom, "A Mother’s Wish is a Daughter’s Duty” in song. Ms. Burke sang in a strong and true voice that projected well throughout the auditorium. She was the epitome of an English country girl in costume and appearance. Julie is no stranger to the local stage, having appeared in several previous theatrical productions and this experience was evident in the ease with which she performed w henever she was on stage.
Act I introduced all of the main characters and we saw Susan Dennis giving Lady Audely the appearance of being sweet, innocent and gentle, making a believable case for a young women's love for a considerably older man. Bob Baines as (.’apt. Audely made a powerful and sustained per
