At its April 4th meeting, the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection Board of Directors approved a $500 donation to the Piedmont Environmental Council to help launch its new environmental education program.
PEC’s Wildlife Committee, which will administer the program, was formed about a year ago. Its stated purpose is to “develop among the citizens of the Piedmont a better understanding of the relationships existing among wildlife, plants, mineral resources, and people in their commonly shared environment.” It’s major goal is to establish a program of education in the PEC region, including:
1. Establishing natural history day camps. A sponsor has been found for Orange County, and one will be opened this summer. Others are needed.
