During the past eight years, the incidence of reported Rocky Mountain spotted fever in the fivecounty Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District has ranged from two to 12 cases per year, with an. average of six per year. In 1977, there were 12 reported cases resulting in one fatality in Culpeper County and one in Fauquier.
