Reminder To Parents
Parents are reminded that Friday, January 18, 1985 is a teacher workday and students will not be in school.
• Lee/Jackson Day Closings
The following offices and businesses will be closed on Monday, January 21 in observance of Lee/Jackson Day. Family Guidance Services (formerly the Mental Health Clinic) will be closed. In case of emergency, Family Guidance Services staff can be reached at 675-3329.
All Rappahannock county offices will be closed, the Social Services Department will be closed and the Rappahannock National Bank will be closed.
• Sludge On The Way Out?
The Board of Supervisors in its January 7 meeting instructed Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke to draw up an ordinance banning the application and storage of sludge in Rappahannock County.
The ordinance will be reviewed by the Board at its next regular meeting.
• Independent Schools Conference
The National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).holds its annual conference in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton Hotel, February 28-March 2.
Themes at this year’s conference include gender questions in schools and curricula, special issues concerning women and minorities, financing independent education (schools, parents, and tax policies), and how Btate . and federal governments are affecting the independence of schools.
• Alvin Henry Promoted
Tim Tarr, General Manager of the Warrenton Farm Credit Service, announced the promotion of Alvin Henry to Senior Loan Officer effective January 1, 1985. Mr. Henry joined the Warrenton Farm Credit Service in 1980 as a Bank Field Representative in the Leesburg office. Subsequently, he was transferred to the Warrenton office and promoted to Loan Officer. Mr. Henry serves the Fauquier and Rappahannock Agricultural community.
Mr. Henry is a 1980 graduate of VA Tech, where he obtained a B.S. degree in Marketing Management. Alvin and his wife, Dabney, are natives of Mt. Jackson, Virginia and presently reside in Amissville on their farm. I
