Alvin Lloyd Atkins, 75, of Sperry-0 ville, died on Wednesday, January 9 at his residence following a lingering illness.
A native of Sperryville, Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Joseph B. and Lizzie Woodard Atkins. Mr. Atkins was a member of Black Oak Regular Baptist Church^He was a former member, deacon and Sunday School superintendent of Beech Spring Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville.
Mr. Atkins was the first custodian of Rappahannock County High School and was employed there until his retirement ten years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Marie Frazier Atkins of Sperryville; a sister, Mrs. Pearl Dodson of Sperryville; two ^brothers, Joseph F. Atkins and Lyle W. Atkins, both of Sperryville; ten nieces and eight nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday at Geest Johnson Funeral Home in Culpeper by the Rev. Wayne Richards. Burial was in Sperryville Cemetery..
