Book Discussion Series “Growing Up in the South,” a five part book discussion series opens at the Library Monday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. with Dr. Suzanne Jones of the U niversity of Richmond as keynote speaker. The program is sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities and is free to the public. Registration may be made by returning the form on the brochure by mail or in person to the library. Eudora Welty’s memoir, One Writer’s Beginnings, is recommended reading before the first lecture. This and the other four books may be borrowed from the library now, and paperbacks of the others are for sale at the library.

Gospel Concert The Flint Hill Harmonizers of Macedonia Baptist Church in Flint Hill, will give a gospel concert at the Promise Land Baptist Church near Washington, on Saturday, March 9 at 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Lillian Aylor and Larry Glasker for the King and Queen rally to benefit the Promise Land building fund.
