The other salary recommendations Estabrook made all averaged to be 13 percent increases except for the assistant principal of the high school, the assistant superintendent, the special services coordinator and the administrative secretary. Estabrook recommended a 17 percent increase for the assistant principal of the high school in an attempt to recognize the years of experience the present assistant principal has and to move towards an index pay system for administrators as well as teachers.
Estabrook recommended more than 13 percent for the assistant superintendent in an effort to differentiate more between that position’s salary and the salary for the principal of the high school. The increase for the special services coordinator was recommended to be 17 percent due to the direct relation of the number of hours the coordinator spends on Chapter I programs to the amount of government funds the system can receive. The administrative secretary would receive an 18 percent raise due to the person’s number of years with the system under Estabrook’s proposal.
The total increase in the budget for the administration category would be 14 percent over last year according to Estabrook’s recommendations.
