Espinola’s works have been performed extensively throughout the state and nationally on radio and television. One of his compositions can currently be heard on the National Public Radio program "All Things Considered." He was featured in the performance “Voices from the Mountains” which aired in 193-1.
Espinola has created numerous arrangements for the string band Trapezoid, an enourmously popular and critically acclaimed group of musicians who now make their home base in Rappahannock. Trapezoid’s music is also an eclectic and unique blend of influences, from traditional, British and Appalachian music, jazz, swing and blues to their own original compositions. Trapezoid will perform at the Gay Street Theatre in Washington, Va. on April 20.
Rappahannock’s residents and schools are already benefitting from this rich new musical resource in the county: Tom Espinola looks forward to more opportunities to share his talent and love of teaching with our schools and community.

Imagine how ridiculous it would Jook, Sam, it one of us horses came? swaggering out of the stable all humanlike, that is all decked out in multi-colors, sporting a hat and pipe of course, and wearing those absurd human knee pads.
Ever notice that, Sam? 1 mean those silly knee pads that stretch from ankle to waste. It’s not an occasional thing; a human being is downright religious about the wearing of knee pads that cover the entire lower portion of the body.
There’s something else that’s not clear to me, Sam. You touched on it in your last letter. If it’s really us and our racing that attracts the people, then why do they spend so much time fussing over the back ends of their cars? All this talk about the tailgate - what is it anyway?
I must tell you’, Sam, I disagree with your explanation as to what is going on in the back ends of those cars. I simply will never believe that miniature horses are racing around on minia7 ture tracks back there.
No, Sam, that’s not it. I think, rather, that it has become the height of human fashion to repair a car at the horse races. It’s not easy to fix a car, so these people group together on a nice day , form a half circle around the problem back end of a friend's car, and there they mill about until the repairs are finished.
And how they rejoice while the repairs are being made, anticipating, I suppose, a smoothly running car. They become so happy that they drink oil*, oil, and more oil.
It’s a funny thing how people mix their own oil. Mixing and tasting, they’re always mixing and tasting, getting the oil just right, as if the car cares..._
