New watercise classes
The Chile] Care & learning Center will sponsor a new type of cool exercise class during the month of August. These classes will be held at the Leggett’s indoor pool down Harris Hollow and will be taught by Rose Ann Sharp. Bi-weekly classes will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 4th. Class fee is $25. Students don’t need to know how to swim or even get their hair wet! Exercises will work arms, legs, waist and hips without a drop of sweat! Registration is limited, so call Rose Ann Sharp at 675-3887 today. Come on out and try it!
Farm show planned
The Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Farm Show will be held July 23-27 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprise grounds. Saturday, July 25, is Rappahannock Day. For additional information call the Rappahannock Extension office at 675-3619.
‘The Mission9
The movie The Mission will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on July 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. each evening. Jeremy Irons and Robert De Niro co-star in this somber saga of the Jesuits in 18th-century Southern America from Roland Joffe of The Killing Fields. Irons plays a missionary who attempts to save his jungle mission and Indian congregation from the politics of Rome and the European powerbrokers of the late 1700’s. De Niro is a slave trader turned brother who must choose between his pacifist vows and his sword when a war breaks out between the natives and the troops. Mission offers mixed blessings; it’s as pretty as it is pious, as ponderous as it is powerful. Chris Menges received an Oscar for his brilliant cinematography. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Painting class at CCLC
Painting classes for ages 6-10 will be held at the Child Care and Learning Center August 17-21 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Please note change in date.
Your child will enjoy creating a series of acrylic paintings on canvas board. The theme of their series will be one they choose. The emphasis of the course will be on finding a meaningful image, developing it from different angles, and using high-quality materials. There will be daily drawing exercises and a public showing of the final works.
Laurie Marshall will be the instructor. The fee, which will include materials, is $30. For additional information call CCLC at 675-3237.
