“Do wo have a site plan yet?” asked Commissioner Fannon.
“No, we do not,” Chairman A. Y. Stokes answered. “There’s been no formal application (for a special exception permit for more than onei dwelling unit on a lot) as far as I know - just a rough application.”
“1 thought a Polaroid picture of three scarecrows was the site plan!” joked Commissioner Fannon. “I don’t want to be criticized again by the Rappahannock News for delaying this application!”
Also at last Wednesday’s regular monthly meeting, the planning commsisioners (1) affirmed that requirements for a Firing range apply to commercial operations only and not to “private clay shooting ranges intended for the property owner’s own enjoyment,” (2) recommended approval of a special exception permit to Maybelle Keyes for subdivision of 130 acres into four lots, three of which will be at least 25 acres and the fourth an exempt lot of 60 to 70 acres, (3) advised that a zoning ordinance amendment must be approved before warehouses can be allowed in highway commercial zone» with a special exception permit, and (4) proposed changing motor freight terminals from a by-right to a special exception use in that same zoning district.

Exciting would only begin to describe the Children’s Festival planned for Saturday, Aug. 8 at C.M. Crockett Park in Midland. A select group of interested citizens and the Fauquier County Parks and Recreation Department have lined up an impressive list of performers. Children ages 5 to 17 are $2.50 each and Larry Miller, Department Director added, “Kids, feel free to bring your parents along.
