Highway Construction Inspector B

The Virginia Department of Transportation has 1 opening for Highway Construction Inspector B at the Warrenton Residency. Duties: Performs duties as a project leader, being responsible for complete project accountability of a complicated project. Ensures total contractor compliance with plans, specifications, special provisions, and contracts for road and bridge construction. Manages, coordinates, and supervises assignments of personnel for inspection of grading, paving, drainage, erosion control, and checking of lines and grades for roads and bridges; supervises or prepares project diaries.sketch books, etc.; inspects structures for concrete and reinforcing steel placement; prepares monthly progress reports, and estimates; reviews EEO reports; inspects traffic control and safety devices. Qualifications: Knowledge of highway construction inspection methods and procedures. Skill in use of engineering field equipment required for the work. Ability to interpret highway contracts, special provisions, plans, specifications, and policies. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports. Ability to supervise and instruct subordinate inspectors. Ability to maintain good working relationship with contractors, general public, and other employees. Graduation from high school and related experience; or training, education, and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties. Safety shoes are required in the performance of the above duties.

Salary: $19,147 - $26,169 (Grade 9)
