Kiley’s poems in book
Woodville artist Catherine Kiley is included in a volume of poetry titled Regional Voices, which features writers from Vriginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. The book is the first volume in a series titled, The Poet’s Domain^Sublished by ROAD Publishers of Fairfax Statipp. Publisher Donna L. Robinson said of the work, "the region abounds with writers .,, who compose excellent poetry; This first volume of the series ... will introduce readers to a side of poetry that may surprise them." The volume is scheduled for publication this month.
Student music contest
The Rappahannock Lions Club announces its annual Bland Music Contest, scheduled for Sunday, March 4 at the Gay St. Theater. The contest is designed to recognize and encourage musically talented students, and offers scholarships to the top musicians as judged at the contest. Students interested in competing in the contest should speak with their music teachers or any Lions Club member. The public is invited to attend the concert.
School out early Feb. 8
The Rappahannock County Public Schools will have an'early release next Thursday, Feb. 8. Students will be sent home at 2 p.m., according to - ^ * - Superintendent David G^ngel, so that the faculty can prepare for parent/teacher conferences. Those will be held at the elementary school from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the high school.
