Ginseng poacher
pleads guilty
A Madison County man was convicted recently for removing ginseng roots from Shenandoah National Park.
Ralph Lee Dyer, 62, pleaded guilty to the charges stemming from an incident on Sept. 5, 1989, when he was arrested by rangers inside the Park after they found 113 ginseng roots in his possession.
Park Superintendent J.W. Wade said, “illegal poaching of ginseng threatens its continued existence in the Park.” Ginseng is a rare plant
