To the editor:
Washington, Virginia is facing* the biggest issue in the Town’s history. The issues we should discuss and should have been discussing are the proposed plans for The Inn.
What are the water and septic requirements for this project? How will they be met? Are the town’s planning laws so flawed that the Comprehensive Plan, the Zoning Ordinance, the Subdivision Ordinance, and the Historic District Ordinance require major changes?
Everyone of the planning laws has or will have to be waived, amended, or ignored to accommodate The Inn’s project. The revealed information and details are incomplete. The planning changes necessary to approve the project are being made one at a time. Technically this is correct. Tactically this is best for The Inn.
Common sense requires that the total picture should be known by the town’s people before these decisions are made.
One of the major decisions, the L.O.M.P. subdivision, has already been made. The speed with which the subdivision passed at Council amazed me.
