Wastewater Committee, read a statement into the record, saying, in part, “The meager or inadequate drainfields of roughly one-third of our neighbors are, or are becoming, saturated and they do not possess the actual acreage needed to put iri another one...The Needs Assessment shows there is cause for concern...”
Consultants Dave Taylor and John Hutchinson of Resource International, the company hired to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions to the town’s wastewater problems, reported their findings. The company used data provided by the town to construct average daily water usage of 30,000 gallons from an estimated 120 connections. The final recommendation was a combination gravity-and-pressure collection system, recirculation sand filters, and a six-acre drainfield. Estimated cost of the project, including surveying and engineering, exceeds $1.48 million. Costs to purchase property were not included.
On July 10, at 7:30 p.m., the Wastewater Committee will hold a special meeting about the issue. Members of the public are invited.
