Tupper assured the board that “if a child experiences an ‘educational growth spurt,’ during the year, they will be moved into another class.” Tupper emphasized that “this is not a pre-one or kindergarten-and-a-half class. It is a first grade class with a lot of extra help.” Tupper also said that placement in the class is mandatory and that the parents, who have already been contacted, are generally very supportive of the plan.
