According to the official weather station in Amissville, w here precipitation records are kept by Lucille Riley, the situation is soggy. Over three inches of rain was measured one day last week and Tuesday the measure was more than one and one half inches. An estimate by Miss Riley sets the August total at over six inches. From the station in Washington with Miss. Ruby Jenkins in charge the following figures were made available Wednesday morning: 6.91 inches of rain has bee,n recorded for the month of August making the total for the year 30.26 inches. This is the highest amount of rainfall in one month that the county has received for a long time.

Special Programs and exhibits are planned for Thursday, Aug. 25. as Shenandoah National Park commemorates the 72nd anniversary of the National Park Service. To further mark the day, park service Director William Mott has declared that entrance fees will be waived at Shenandoah and all other park service areas. A series of six classes for expectant parents will begin Sept. 7 and run through Oct. 12 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. The Preparation for Parenthood Course is offered on Wednesdays.
