Laura McNear, daughter of Richard and Nancy McNear of Washington, recently presented her poster “The Effects of Appetite Suppressants and Exercise on Weight Loss in Humans” at the 1998 Student Sphplar Showcase at Lynchburg College, a private college in central Virginia dhrolling 2,050 students in the professional, liberal arts and sciehces, and graduate studies. '
McNear, a 1996 graduate of Mercersburg Academy, is a jlfrnipr health and movement science major at Lynchburg College.
Rodeo will return

The Beast of the East Stampeded rodeo, sanctioned by^-the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will return to Great Meadow in The Plains on Sept. 5 and 6. All,major rodeo sports will be cpntested from barrel racing, calf roping, bare back and saddle- bronc riding, steer Wrestling and bull riding.
The rodeo will begin at 7;30 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 6. The event will offer a petting zoo, mutton busting Aid. a calf scramble for the jyyjpger set.
