REMEMBERING

WITH A SMILE

While our first impulse is to cry upon hearing of the death of a loved one, we soon may give way to smiling at the thought of him or her. The tears are for a presence that will no longer be physically felt. The smiles are for remembrances of shared experiences, love and a life well spent. So grief may contain a good share of misery, but it also involves a healthy dose of joyful recollection and appreciation. In the words of British journalist Julie Burchill: "Tears are sometimes an inappropriate response to death. When a life has been lived completely honestly, completely successfully, or just completely, the correct response to death's perfect punctuation mark is a smile."

At first, we can hardly give thanks when we lose someone we love, but in time, memories are what reward us with such sweetness that we can more easily bear the loss. At the MOSER FUNERAL HOME, 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, we try to tailor our services to your family's particular needs and preferences. Call 347-3431 for answers to your questions. We offer plots in Bright View Cemetery, just outside Warrenton, and memorials and monuments for all cemeteries. "If as I can't help suspecting, the dead also feel the pains of separation...(then) bereavement is a universal and integral part of our experience of love. ”
