These swindlers usually operate from “boiler rooms,” which are rented rooms housing nothing more than portable tables, telephones, and folding chairs occupied by unscrupulous telemarketers. The investments sold may be nonexistent or merely overvalued, but they are never as represented.
Not surprisingly, boiler room swindlers use high-pressure tactics, replete with admonitions to act immediately, before it is “too late.” Other features may include:
