Norman family to gather
The annual Norman reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 30 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. A picnic lunch will be served at the pavilion at 1 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited and are asked to bring a covered dish and a beverage to share. “Hope to see you there,” said a spokesperson.
Barbecue dinner scheduled
The Rappahannock Farmers Association will host their annual fall festival barbecue dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Windsor Lodge Farm in Flint Hill. For tickets and/or information call Jane Naramore at 9375367 or contact any board member.
Beahm family reunion set
The 15th annual reunion for the late George W. and Nancy Bolen Beahm will be held on Sept. 6 at the Rappahannock Park near Washington beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. “Please bring a favorite dish and drink to share and enjoy the day,” said a spokesperson. Utensils will be provided.
Karate classes to begin
Shorin-Ryu Okinawan Karate classes will begin Sept. 16 at Ki Theatre in Washington. Classes will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for juniors and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. for adults. Music at Appetite Repair
Eric Eckl will appear at Appetite Repair Shop on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. The event is free. Eckl, president of the Songwriters Association of Washington, performs original country/folk music at venues in Virginia, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Maryland. Democratic Committee to meet

Registration underway
A mindfulness approach to stress and pain, an eight week program will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., starting Sept. 8. The program is modeled after the University of Massachusetts program. For information and to register call Bonnie Ellis at 675-2099.
Pantry program scheduled
A super pantry program sponsored through a partnership between Rappahannock Cooperative Extension and Blue Ridge Food Bank will be held at the Washington Baptist Church beginning Sept. 9 and continuing for seven weeks on Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This program is designed for clients who are receiving some public assistance such as WIC, food stamps, Head Start or those who have children who receive free or reduced lunches. Participants receive nutrition education, lunch, life skills speaker each week, bag of groceries each week, cookbook, and a recipe file.
