William Hugh Eggborn III, 73, of Rixeyville died on Friday, Aug. 21 at his residence.
Mr. Eggborn was born on Aug. 20, 1925 in Culpeper County to Macon Swan Eggborn Curtis and the late William H. Eggborn, Jr.
A farmer, he worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry as a Warden for Culpeper County. In the past, he served as president of the Culpeper-Madison Feeder Cattle Association. Mr. Eggborn had attended VPI.
He was a member of Gourdvine Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. A member of American Legion Post #330, Mr. Eggborn had served his country as a Marine in World War II. He was wounded in Iwo Jima, for which he was awarded the purple heart.He kept active in local baseball.
