Judge Carlton Penn said he felt Hannock had been given every opportunity to get his life together and has not done so. Hannock was sentenced to serve his comeback time of six years, he will get credit for any time already served, and pay all court costs.
Matthew H. Jeffries was also ordered by the court to serve the comeback time of three years on his original sentence. Jeffries was convicted of sexual battery in 1987 and served time. He has since been on probation. He had absconded once to Florida for which he served 12 months and more recently absconded to New Jersey where he has relatives. He had been told by the court not to go to New Jersey but went anyway. Judge Penn said in essence he “thumbed his nose” at the court’s ruling and committed a willful violation of his probation.
For the more recent offense he was ordered to serve the remaining three years of his sentence plus pay court costs. There was also some question as to whether it is still required of him to file as a sex offender. There was a warrant out for Jeffries in Culpeper fof his failure to file there. Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said he would check into the matter to see if the required time period has elapsed.
