In other business before the board:
• The board approved the Special Education field trip td the Bahamas. The primary con-; cem of the board was that the school system could get insurance that would cover the stu-I dents out of the country. Gangel had spoken to the insurance; carrier and said they can get the insurance coverage.
• The board discussed possibly doing away with the vehicle car pool for bus drivers and going to a system where buses, are driven home by drivers and then back to school in the morning. :
• Donations were received of: $500 to Commmunity Connections Calendar project from the Federation of American Consumers; $3,450 in grants from Headwaters to teachers; and a computer monitor from James Kirkpatrick.
• Gangel said in looking at the budget calendar and projections for this year’s budget a 2.5 percent salary raise is probably all the system can support this year. “We won’t be able to support a 4.5 percent increase in salary as we had talked about,* he said.
• He said for the 1999-2000 calendar the spring break will have to be moved back t<) accommodate SOL testing. s • Policies up for review were approved and bills paid.
