discussion, the council voted 5to-2 to increase the salary and hours for the town’s administrative assistant, Kaye Kohler. Kohler had once worked for The Inn and challenged them for unfair dismissal, which was settled out of court. Tbmpkins and Lynch voted against her salary increase.

Reynolds read a fairly lengthy speech complimenting the council for working hard, but said he was going to follow through with his resignation as town attorney, a position he has held since 1986. He said the town has a strong financial position, but is in the throes of an extreme power struggle.

Later in the meeting, Jeff Butler, who himself resigned from the wastewater committee last month, asked Reynolds in an emotional plea to reconsider his resignation. Reynolds said his resignation was appropriate and that he would consider the job of town attorney if it ever became available again at some future time.
