Tompkins made a motion to have the Architectural Review Board be notified of stop work orders based on architectural appropriateness before Zoning Administrator John McCarthy issued them, and the right to vote on the validity of such an order within seven working days. Patrick O’Connell, ARB member and co-owner of The Inn, which has been the only recipient of the work orders for architectural appropriateness, said that McCarthy would be relieved to not be the sole decision-maker.
The matter was referred to the Town Planning Commission, which will hold a public meeting before it is returned to the council.
A stricter water service policy was unanimously passed which makes landowners responsible for their tenants unpaid water bills.
