** Sheriff's office, students and school
' board deserving of praise here are several folks this week who deserve a big thank you and pat on their collective backs. The first would be the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Office personnel who made the Shop With a Deputy program such a huge success once again this year. ) The event takes a tremendous amount of effort and \ commitment on their part and brings just as much joy • to the children and families they help. Next the students of Rappahannock High School are to be commended for initiating and following through with the idea of putting a student on the school board to represent the youth of the county. It’s a novel idea and one that is sure to help improve com: I munication in the school system. It’s also a step to ward* what the school board members were discussing at their meeting last week — making the schools part of the solution, not part of ,'<j the problem. And so the school board gets a hand. The idea they had of forming a citizens’ committee to study ways the school system can help make education affordable in the county is a great idea. The committee would have a school board member and a member of the board of supervisors on it as well. Interested citizens should contact their school board representative and find out how to get on the !' committee.
