The county and Piedmont originally joined as a group to get insurance when both were too small to get the insurance coverage they needed on their own. PTEC won’t be functioning after next year and the insurance will run out. The decision is one the school board must make to decide whether to allow PTEC employees to continue to pay their TRICON premiums until age 65. The county school system does not allow employees here who retire early to continue to pay for the insurance coverage.
The board decided to table the issue and allow board members time to consider the request.
