Dylan had spent, Mello said, many of his happiest moments on the football field. His teammates and coaches had marked the grass on the 50-yard line with the number 19. his jersey number on the Panthers’junior varsity football team.
Dylan, a quarterback, was to have been a starting player on Rappahan nock’s first varsity squad next fall.
Mello said for two months after the fall season, Dylan had staved after school to help refurbish the equipment room and that the coaches wanted to honor him. “So the first varsity football letter ever given by Rappahannock High School will be given to Dylan today," he told the mourners.
Mello said Dylan's number 19 would be retired and no other player will ever use it. It will he carried in Panthers’ programs as belonging to Dylan Corbin.
