Coach Kemp Pullin said that Corbin’s mother, Diana, told him to just standup Saturday and tell stories about Dylan, but his emotions overwhelmed him and instead he led the Panthers’ teams, standing and wearing their uniform jerseys, in a standing ovation for Dylan. The letter and a number 19 jersey were given to the Corbin family.

Mello said he visited Nathan last Friday and as they reminisced, the 18-yearold remembered his younger brother “was a good kid,” a phrase that Mello told the crowd well summed up the’ character of Dylan.

Mello said the football field was where Dylan could be found “playing the game he loved, surrounded by all those people who loved him. I’m sure he’s smiling that awesome smile, looking down at us right now,” Mello said. A few moments later, many in the crowd noticed, a bald eagle flew a low pass over the celebration.

Four ministers, chosen by the family, contributed to the program: Yowell, of the F.T. Valley Baptist Church, where the Corbin family attended, Rev. Jennings Hobson III of Trinity Episcopal Church, the Rev. Phil Bailey of the Washington Baptist Church and the Rev. Doug Farmer, who preceded Yowell at the F.T. Valley church and knew the family as it had grown.
