‘Country Rhythm Boys’

Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Dizzy Dean, the colorful star of the depression-era St. Louis Cardinals, the unforgettable “Gashouse Gang.”

On May 22, the last concert in the current Smithsonian at Little Washington series will offer trios for violin, viola, cello, baryton, viola d’amore and lute. The musicians for this concert are a subset of the Smithsonian Chamber Players called The Esterhjxzy Machine, which takes its name from the family of Hungarian nobles who were Haydn’s patrons.

And, on Memorial Day weekend, the lovely soprano Jacqueline Neimat returns to the Theatre, where she will be accompanied by a tenor and a pianist, to sing some of opera’s beautiful and romantic love songs, in a program titled “Opera’s Star-Crossed Lovers.”
