Flint Hill resident Peggy Ralph, who worked to get the parking ordinance, said "somewhere dowm the road this will save lives" by giving sheriffs deputies the right to enforce parking regulations and remove dangerously parked cars.
The measure goes into effect on March 1 in the entire county except the Tbwn of Washington where parking regulations are set by the sevenmember city council.
Washington Mayor Eugene Leggett said in an interview afterwards that there have been discussions with Bryant Lee, the supervisor who represents the Hampton area which includes Washington. Leggett said it is likely that the city council will discuss it at its meeting on Jan. 14. He said Washington may decide to conform to the county actions.
