Festivities began at 2 p.m. The honorees were escorted to their seats by Jackie Porter and her brother, Leroy Porter, Jr. while the audience stood and applauded. The Porters also pinned the honorees with a boutonniere and corsage.
Molly Slaughter and Hattie Slaughter, accompanied by Mary Tinsley on the piano, and Dexter Freeman on the guitar, sang “We Have Come This Far By Faith.” Rev. Michael Tinsley offered the invocation prayer.
