A “community brainstorming meeting” for Rappahannock’s nonprofit organizations will be held on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Rappahannock County Public Library. The meeting will explore the possibility of forming an alliance to assist Rappahapnock’s nonprofits with strategy, capacity building, fund-raising, communications, volunteer recruitment and training and technical assistance.
Board members, volunteers, donors, staff and supporters of Rappahannock’s 501(c)3 nonprofits, schools, faith-based organizations, fire and rescue squads, social service agencies, government, and any and all community members interested in leadership, service, and support in the nonprofit sector are encouraged to attend.
The draft concept of such an alliance was formulated during initial meetings held over the last several months which included people involved in staff or volunteer capacities with Headwaters, Ki Theatre, Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection, Hearthstone School, Rappahannock Association for Arts in the Community, the Child Care and Learning Center, RCCA, the Green Pages, and other organizations.

“The state police are looking forward to talking to people who have available information on this accident and have the clues we need,” said Felts. “We are conducting interviews with several students and parents.”
He asked that those with information call him at the Virginia State Police office in Warrenton, 540-347-6425.
“It is our goal to conduct a thorough and accurate investigation and provide Commonwealth's Attorney Peter Luke the results so he can make the determination of which direction to go in,” said Settle.
Luke said no charges have been placed against anyone.
“There may be a lot of rumor and speculation circulating in the county but I don’t operate on rumors and guessing what happened,” said Luke.
He said he would await the results of the state police investigation. “I am in contact with the state police,” Luke said. The matter is going to be thoroughly investigated, not just the accident but what happened before the accident,” Luke said.
