scores surge By Briar Suzanne Bogin Rappahannock News Staff Writer Students in both Rappahannock County public schools passed the Standards of Learning (SOL) tests this spring at a higher rate than the same time last year. The pass rate improved in nearly 60 percent of the tested subjects. This good news was presented to the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors by School Supt. Bob Chappell at its Monday meeting. “We feel that these numbers are indicative of both Rappahannock schools being fully accredited See SOL, Page A6 Meetings • On Tuesday, Aug. 10 the Rappahannock County School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. (closed session) and 7:30 p.m. (public session) at the Rappahannock County High School band room. • On Wednesday, Aug. 11, the Town of Washington will hold its monthly Town Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall on Gay Street.
