Congratulations to our own Crystal Heflin and the Culpeper Junior League AllStar softball team for a state championship win that will take them to Fort Myers, Fla., for a chance at the Southeastern Regional title.
The final half-inning of that game was tense: all bases were loaded, the score was tied, and then came the pitch and hit that made our young ladies the state champs.
The coach noted that “both sides played a tight game, and the champs were so happy and relieved. The most relieved player on the field was likely 14-year-old Crystal Heflin, who pitched all seven innings.”
