Jeffersonton on its way back to Alexandria. Arriving in Alexandria, they would take a local coach over to Georgetown and then connect with the Winchester Line.
The Orange and Alexandria railroad came to Culpeper in 1854 and that made traveling a little easier. In modem times, we take it for granted that we can get to Winchester in one hour. The modem day trip to downtown Washington, D C., however, is not much quicker that it was in 1851!
