For its part, The Purple Plum is moving to a new location on Main Street across from the post office. That store is scheduled to be open within a month, while the Earthly Paradise will be presenting its steaming java as soon as the building can be set up for a coffee house, according to a spokesperson.

Sarah Belle’s, located at the comer of Main and Fifth streets has signs in the store that say, “After nine-and-one-half years, it’s time to say goodbye,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the store is closing.

“Well, we are downsizing for sure and we’re looking for tenants for part of the building,” said Joyce Hall, owner of Sarah Belle’s. “If we can find tenants, we’ll stay in the building also.”

Hall wasn’t certain that there were tenants out there right now.
