In Virginia there is no party registration. Rappahannock has 5,074 registered voters out of a population of some 7,000 persons
Laura Bland, spokesperson for the state Democratic Party said similar reports are coming in from all over, even Republican strongholds like Lynchburg, Va., where conservative churchman Howard Falwell has been a dominant political force. She said a recent “meet up “ there had Democrats “hanging from the rafters.”
Bland said that the primary in the spring identified some 400,000 Democratic voters.
