She’s known around Rappahannock County as the “go-to" wildlife expert, just a phone call away from solving problems with hears, baby birds, you name it.
Local wildlife rehabilitator, Amo Merritt, gladly takes on that role, calming frantic citizens whose compassion has them chasing squirrels up trees and building make-shift birds' nests at all hours of the night.
It may sound crazy, but Merritt works around the clock caring for sick, injured, and orphaned animals. It’s her job
"For some reason people think that wildlife don’t hurt, that they don’t have any pain, they want to put it back in the woods and let nature take its course,’ she said “Sometimes they need our help"
