Always having wanted to be a vet, Merritt first got interested in wildlife rehabilitation after finding an injured box turtle on the side of the road.
“I called the wildlife center and they told me to call a ‘rehabber’ in Richardsville. She said if I could bring him to her, shell take a look at him,” Merritt said. The “rehabber’s” name was Penny Weaver. She's the reason Merritt got hooked.
