McCarthy was surprised when the only complaint he received was that pedestrians were walking in the middle of the road, nothing he would qualify as significant.
In fact, according to McCarthy, the county only had two calls for emergency response during the 16 days of the festival.
“Having over 200 people in attendance, you would think that emergency personnel would be called upon," said McCarthy. “We had almost no impact on any services and of the two calls for emergency response, they were insignificant. There were no disorderly conduct calls.”
When asked if there were parts of the county the festival didn’t impact, McCarthy responded by saying that’s the beauty of Rappahannock.
“If you did not want to take part, you didn’t have to. It’s the splendid isolation that people treasure about Rappahannock,” he said. “If that doesn’t define a good fit, I don’t know what does.”
