The village of Flint Hill and rural F T. Valley along Route 231 may sortn earn designations as historic districts if some local activists have their way.
They would be the newest historic districts after Washington. Sperryvilie, and Laurel Mills.
This week. Jennifer Hallock of Arcadia', Preservation, an historic preservation consulting firm, began knocking on doors in Flint Hill and FT Valley as part of an on-site documentation for historic district nominations
All of this was set in motion by Hal Hunter - long-time county activist and Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance member - after reading the 2004 county comprehensive plan which encouraged the formation of historic districts, he said, especially rural historic districts such as F. T. Valley.
Chapter Six of the plan. Hunter said, states that “the county should work towards the creation of at least one irural historic district in the coming five years.’'
Hunter, along with other county landowners in several potential historical districts, began enlisting cooperation from landowners and raising money.
Hunter said that the funding and landowner cooperation were in place to start documenting properties within the proposed districts of Flint Hill and FT. Valley
