I received an intriguing email from Katherine Adams of Stallard Road Farm in Culpeper
"The Tri-County Farmers Market is a new farmers market located at the intersection of Routes 211 and 229 Our market was established to promote local producers in the three counties of Fauquier, Rappahannock and Culpeper " .
"We’re having a Taste of Tri-County Market to highlight our producers. We’re grilling up local meats and serving dishes made with our fresh produce We would love it if you wmuld come and see and maybe even write about us!"
So off I went to the new' farmers’ market at Clevenger’s Corner just over the Fauquier line in Culpeper
It’s a tiny market, just nine or so vendors, but it’s a lively and interesting group If you're up for an adventure, it's worth the trip and as fall approaches, more venders wTil be added to the mix
The Tri-County Farmers' Market started late last August as the brain child of Bob Wollam (Wollam Gardens -that fabulous flower farmer of Jeffersonton) to highlight the region's best.
You’ll run into familiar faces like the Mellows of Oak Shade Farm w ho just live up the road with their gorgeous shitaki mushrooms, fragrant honey, and Mrs. Mellow’s old fashioned, hand stirred strawl^rry - rhubarb jam. Scrumptious!
Bill and Anne Cox of Fleetwood Farm will keep you in fresh herbs, dipping oils and hand-picked wild black berry jam so good you’ll skip the toast choosing instead to just eat it right from the jar.
